The Thaw

It seems spring is right around the corner in wonderful northeast Ohio. Though, we've been known to get one last blast in March, and it's usually quite treacherous. So we'll see how that plays out. But either way, we're doing our best to keep things warm! We've been writing and rehearsing quite a bit lately! We're preparing for what's sure to be an amazing recording session in March. We're broadening our horizons some, and are musically branching out a bit. You'll just have to stay tuned for the outcome! We've got a lot of big things on tap for spring and summer, but we're still in the plotting/scheming stage. We'll release more info as it gels.

But until then, come hang out with us at The Boom Room! We're playing with an amazing band out of Indianapolis called Reaul. These guys have a very palatable, roots/americana rock mixed with indie pop sound. And they pull it off extremely well. They're currently touring all over the midwest as a benefit to VH1's Save the Music Foundation. The show starts at 10, and we hit around 11 or so. See the flyer for more info. Come out to see an amazing show, at an amazing original music venue, right here in town. It's been a while since Warren has had a true music venue. One dedicated to enhancing the scene, and providing bands a killer location to play. Be sure to come check it out if you haven't yet. And if you have, well, we'll be there. Come kick it! :)

Next up, we're heading out on the road for a couple of shows in March, and are working on the rest of our schedule for spring as we speak. On March 13 we're playing at The Hi Fi Concert Club in Lakewood, OH. We'll update here with more info soon. On March 14 we're off to Covington, KY for a show with The Black Mondays (a wildly entertaining drag troupe) at Leapin' Lizard Gallery... a former church whose sanctuary has been turned into a bar! Come spend a night full of debauchery in a formerly sacred house. There will be belly dancing, drag, booze and DJs! That should rustle a few cosmic feathers, eh? :) Peep the poster for more info!

So that's about it for now. As soon as we get the OK to leak some information, we will. Promise. But until then, keep showin' us love and support by coming out to the shows, buying some merch to support our quest for the musical grail, and SPREADING THE WORD!! Tell people about us and where they can check us out, bring them to shows, and hell, burn 'em a cd! :) We hope to see you all soon!

So, it's that time of year!

Tons of shows, and lots of snow! We've been playing quite a bit as of late. Thanks to everyone who has been out to hang with us! We've been having a blast, and hope you have as well! So, we've got a couple more shows lined up for 2008, and if it's been a while since you've been out to see us, we'd be obliged if you'd come! Here's your chance...

Now, check it. This is a PATIO SHOW! Oh yeah. A patio show in the heart of winter. But, the entire patio is enclosed by a tent, and Metter's is bringing in extra heaters to keep you all warm. So toss on some long johns, and come get your wool socks rocked off!

After that, we have December 13 at Cedars for Band of the Bands, a benefit for the Second Harvest Food Bank, with The Young Stonians and The Youngstown Tramps! In the heart of Youngstown. Check out the site for more details, and we'll pass along more as we get them.

And our Christmas present to you, just a little late... it will have been just over a year since we last joined forces with our friends, Daboondox, to bring a hiphop/rock hybrid show to the area, and we're doing it again! At the most bitchin' venue around these days, The Boom Room! DECEMBER 27, we're making an attempt to heal this wounded world, with a little musical antiseptic, and hope you bring your dancing kicks. It's going to be a wild party!

As far as the development of the album? Well, we've been playing tons of fundraisers as of late. We're trying to get some bankroll happening. We've been working on more material, and making plans for what's sure to be our most awesomest release yet. Pinky swear. :)

Ciao summer!

Wow. Our summer was absolutely amazing! Thank you so much to everyone who made it out to the shows, bought merch, and hung out with us! It's all so greatly appreciated. But as summer comes to a close, we're continuing to blast forth right through fall and winter!

Saturday September 6 - The Cellar - Struthers, Ohio
Join us as we close out the party for our pals, Via Sahara's LAST SHOW EVER!! This is going to be an awesome show with Joe Verzilli, Super No. 7, Sotaro, Via Sahara, and us closing out the night! Come party with us and VS to show love for one of Youngstown's finest, longest running bands. It's a shame to see them go, but we're elated to help make their going away party a fantastic event! Friday October 3 - Cedars Lounge and Cafe - Youngstown, Ohio
Join us and our friends, Jets to Red from Columbus, as we get back to some roots and get down at the Cedars! J2R is an amazing band of fellows who are quite new to the Ohio scene, and you absolutely must see them live! They killed at ruKus - the festival, and we're all kinds of excited to play with them again. Be there, or square. You choose! :) 1030p 18+ $5 Stay tuned for visuals.

Saturday November 1 - Rong Tan's - Cincinnati, Ohio
Ahhh yes. It's been oh so long since we played in the 'nnasti, and we can't wait to get back! Cincinnatians (man, that's a sweet name... but would the t be soft like in martians?!?!?!)... SPREAD THE WORD! Bring all of your friends. Seriously. All of them. We're playing with a killer native band, Goat Farmer, and it's sure to be a wild night! I mean seriously... how can you go wrong with band members like Oedipus Tex, Dub, and El Guapo?! Be sure to check them out, and help us spread the word about this Cinci show!! We need your help! Ahhhh... a way easier way to handle news!

Alright gang! Welcome to the new Kellys News! We're going to be handling updates through Blogspot now. It's way easier, and will allow all of us easy access to dropping you a quick line. Click the link of this blog entry to check out all of our old news, if you wish.

So here's what's happening! We're currently in the studio working on our next release, Opus, that we're hoping to crank out sometime in the fall. This year we've got 8 bands lined up, a completely open-mic second stage with room for six performers, all kinds of artists and vendors, and loads of good times! It's a FREE, ALL AGES event at the most gorgeous venue in the area!
